The total fee load on a typical Etsy sale is roughly 10–11% when Offsite Ads don't apply (listing + transaction + payment + regulatory). For a $35 item with $5 shipping: listing $0.20, transaction $2.60 (6.5% of $40), payment $1.45 (3% of $40 + $0.25), regulatory $0.14 (0.3% of $40 + $0.02) = $4.39 total, or about 11% of the $40 gross.
If a sale comes through Offsite Ads, add another 12–15% of the sale price. For sellers under $10K/year in revenue, Offsite Ads are optional — you can opt out in your shop settings. Once you cross $10K, enrollment becomes mandatory at the lower 12% rate.
The break-even price shown above is the minimum sale price to earn $1 profit after all fees and costs. To hit a specific profit target, work backwards: Price = (Cost + Target Profit + Fixed Fees) ÷ (1 − Fee Percentages). For most items with 6.5% + 3% + 0.3% variable and $0.20 + $0.25 + $0.02 fixed, the all-in rate is about 10% variable + ~$0.47 fixed.
