Mercari's 10% is charged on the combined item price plus any shipping the buyer pays — not on the item alone. On a $40 item with $6 buyer-paid shipping, the fee is 10% of $46 = $4.60, not $4.00. If you offer free shipping instead, the fee applies only to the item price (because the buyer isn't paying separate shipping), but the actual postage cost then comes out of your earnings. Model both scenarios above before you set a price.
Mercari removed the old 2.9% + $0.50 payment processing fee for listings created on or after January 6, 2025, so current sellers pay just the single 10%. Many older guides still list the removed charge; this calculator does not include it. The buyer's 3.6% protection fee is added at checkout and never reduces your payout.
